I have no idea how this happened.  I’m very pleased to know the LCD screen wasn’t damaged thanks to this wonderful product from Giottos!   One of the other things I really like about them is that they don’t peel off like the film protectors.  It’s a piece of glass that looks just like the screen.  If you don’t like these at least put something over your screen to protect it from damage and scratching.  I am probably one of the most particular people when it comes to the care of my equipment but things still happen.  It’s cheap insurance!
