Moped Riders

In the area in which we live there are a tremendous amount of moped riders.
For those of you who don’t know, a moped is a gas powered vehicle, with an engine very similar to that of a weed-eater, maximum speed 20 miles per hour. These vehicles do not require a license to drive, so are the choice vehicles of those without a license, especially those recently convicted of a DUI.
Ryan and I were sitting on our front porch last night, drinking coffee like a couple of old folks, when we saw a couple of moped-riding idiots. Â They were riding side by side one in the middle of each lane. Â As they came around the turn, Ryan said “take a picture of these idiots,” but before I could snap the picture there was a Sheriff Deputy right behind them.
The moped rider in the left lane quickly moved to the right lane, slowing down as the deputy turned on his siren behind him. Â The other moped rider chose to run from the deputy and made a quick exit down a dirt path next to our house. Â The other, we’ll call him “blue,” politely pulled over.
This incident made me thankful that we live where we do, the biggest crime of the weekend was a moped rider, riding in the wrong lane with no hands and a moped riding fugitive who decided to evade the police.
